STEPHEN HAWKING SAYS NO NEED FOR GOD; IS HE RIGHT?

Stephen Hawking is a scientist I admire greatly; both for his determination amid a tragic disease and his obvious intelligence.  But his latest comments on Creation trouble me.  I may be foolish to argue with the holder of the academic chair at Cambridge that Sir Issac Newton held but here is what Hawking asserted:

He [Hawking] adds: “Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.

“Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist.

I note Hawking uses the word “creation”; I think he is right.  The universe was created.  He’s just wrong about how it happened and Who did it.  Hawking suggests that the laws of science brought the universe into being and thus there is no need for a deity.  But the former holder of the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics might differ with Hawking:

Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who set the planets in motion. God governs all things and knows all that is or can be done.

I’ll go with this:  “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.”  Genesis 1:1 (KJV)  God can neither be proven or disproven by science.  I would merely state my testimony:  I need God in Christ every day and He gives me strength and wisdom for my daily walk.  Anyone who wants to know more can contact me at eesjresquire@netscape.net.  Here’s how to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour from Billy Graham’s web page.

  1. What Stephen Hawking mentioned about the god was absolutely true. I am very much greatful to him, because it’s only the Hawking have the command and rights to say about god’s existance.

All others must respect his statement and oblige it. Atleast from now onwards people start to think to give respect to all other creatures of this earth, so that to live as just a part of the nature.

  2. I thank you, Annaiah for coming by. I urge you respectfully to consider the claims of Jesus Christ as Lord. The Bible is reliable, it clearly teaches that Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6 KJV from memory). Everybody can come to Jesus as Savior and Lord (John 3:16 KJV):

For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Either Jesus was telling the truth or he would be ready for a mental hospital; Psalm 34:6 (KJV) says “Taste and see that the Lord [is] good, blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in Him.” I urge you to seek out Jesus; you will not be disappointed.
