The Denver Post endorses the infamous Graham/Schumer biometric ID card:

A bipartisan proposal, pitched by Sens. Charles Schumer and Lindsey Graham, to require biometric Social Security cards has the potential to remedy those problems. Such a credential would include an identifier, such as a fingerprint, to positively connect the card to the person presenting it.

I am still hoping the Senator Graham, once one of my beau ideals, will renounce this anti-liberty idea right away. This recent article in Cleveland.com seems to say no or not yet.

Is this the Mark of the Beast? It certainly is the essential step in that direction. Don’t take my word for it: John W. Whitehead of the Rutherford Institute says much the same in this article in the Huffington Post.

Whitehead says that in 1981 Ronald Reagan rejected a similar idea as smacking of the Mark of the Beast. He concludes with these chilling words:

The time to resist is now. If we don’t, eventually, we will all have to possess one of these cards in order to be a functioning citizen in American society. Failing to have a biometric card will render you a non-person for all intents and purposes. Your whole life will depend on this card–your ability to work, travel, buy, sell, access health care, and so on.

What we used to call science fiction is now reality. And whether a national ID card is the mark of the Beast or the long arm of Big Brother, the outcome remains the same.

So I now say let’s try this: Let’s call it the Mark of the Beast. We know it is not the actual mark but it is a precursor of this fearful idea from the future. I suggest that every Bible-believing Christian in South Carolina send an email to and if in person confront (respectfully! Always with respect for the office!) Senator Graham and ask him to renounce this idea.

Why take away the liberties of Americans to stop illegal immigration? There is a better way: Enforce the law and secure the border. We must not demonize Hispanics in any way. But we can do what’s right without hurting people because of their ethnic background. Let’s start with this ID card. Deep six it. Kill it. Make it so politically odious that no one will support it. Call the Biometric ID Card was it is: the Mark of the Beast. If you live in SC, tell Senator Graham how you feel.

I wonder if the surge of interest in Tim Tebow in the NFL draft is a response to the Ben Roethlisberger saga. In fairness to the Steelers QB, it might be an attempt to set up a famous person – or it could be as reported to the police. But it’s certainly true that unless aggravated witnessing for Christ is a violation of the Personal Conduct code, Tebow will never be in Commissioner Goodall’s office – and the league knows it. Tebow might not be the QB that the NFL seeks but he reminds me of Doug Flutie – and he had a long and successful career in both the US and Canada. Some wise team will select him – maybe even high first round. You heard it here first!

Now we turn to the BYU women’s rugby team. They were forced to play on Sunday and elected to forfeit instead. I admire their decision. I am not sure I agree totally with their viewpoint but it must be admitted the Commandment does say do not work on the Sabbath (see Exodus 20;8-11). One of my favorite movies is Chariots of Fire, where Eric Liddell refused to run on Sunday. Actually God was a better Olympic coach than the British Olympic coach. BYU also got hosed (if this story is true) by the organizers of the event. I cannot endorse Mormon doctrine but I admire those who make a real sacrifice for their faith. There is too little of this today.

Finally, I saw the headline in AOL news – something to the effect that honesty costs golfer a terrible price. Here’s the Real Clear Sports take on it. I did not realize that first place is over a million dollars! Makes me want to get a set of clubs. But the headline is all wrong: It’s cheating that’s costly. It hurts your conscience, your witness for Christ and your walk with God. I don’t know the faith of Brian Davis, but I know something of his integrity and moral compass. Any chance for politics after golf?

I wrote this comment at Virginia Right to a nice comment on this simulblogged article. I do not have permission to quote the comment; you may read it at Virginia Right.

I do not accept that macroevolution from one group of species to another is supported in the fossil record. I do suggest that the only way adaptations can manifest themselves is through mutations. Heredity cannot produce natural selection. Only mutations can. I cannot look at the remarkable things in the natural world and suggest that it aroise by chance forces. That seems less reasonable than creation. Creationism is the belief that God created the world in six literal days. I agree He did it is six lateral days as He measured time but Einstein’s time dilation effect shows that the measurement of time is relative (hence the name “Theory of Relativity”) thus it is possible that what the scientists measure billions of years is six literal days for the God of the Bible. The Bible even says in II Peter that a day with the Lord is as a thousand years. I suggest the laws of physics support creation; it shows a orderly universe created by an orderly God.

Ultimately, I cannot prove the existence of God or Creation. I don’t want to: Faith is the substance of things UNSEEN. (Heb 11:1) I do suggest in my blog that people should ask the question that the Discovery Channel will not: Were we created? If so who is right? I suggest the Bible is reliable having survived for thousands of years and has some archaeological support. Thus people should turn to Christ Jesus as Lord.

Finally, one more thing: A review of Revelation suggests that John saw a prophecy of future events 2000 years ago. How did he know the Mark of the Beast could be used to control buying and selling. We see the possibility of that even now which is why I criticized Sen. Graham’s idea for a biometric ID card. It makes it more likely sooner that the Mark of the Beast will occur. Revelation also suggests an asteroid will hit the Earth in the end times: “The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water – the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.” Rev 8:10 (NIV) There was no certain proof of meteorites hitting the earth before 1803 in France. How did John know 1700 years earlier?

Thanks for coming by and your well-written comment.

I felt convicted that I said even in jest that the most important thing about Thanksgiving was the Saints. That was of course ironic humor.

However, I heard this on Rush Limbaugh and saw a portion of it on Gary Bauer’s End of the Day email. (Here’s where to subscribe to it!) It is from George Washington’s Thanksgiving proclamation.

“…I do recommend and assign Thursday, the twenty-sixth day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these United States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we then may all unite unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation… for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and … for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed…”

President Washington was acting out the express will of the First Congress, who passed and sent to the states the First Amendment with the Establishment Clause. I’d suggest today this type of proclamation might draw a lawsuit!

Here, from Rush’s website is the entire proclamation. Here it is from Washington’s papers website.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving and may all my readers know Jesus Christ as their Personal Savior and Lord! (Here’s how if you need it from Billy Graham’s website. Here’s more info from the same place if you have done so!)

First, I want to again express my appreciation for the opportunity that the jindal2012blogger gave me. I was willing to continue to be the assistant blogger and allow him to keep the blog but he was ready to give way to another. I am grateful for his suggestions and support. He is welcome any time to comment or blog here.

I do want to move the blog into new directions. It will not be radical changes: I do admire both Cong. Ron Paul and Gov. Bobby Jindal. I would be torn gravely if they both ran for the GOP nomination in 2012. I think that chance is small. Paul is likely to run even though he’d prefer not to due to his status as political hero and movement founder. Jindal is likely to run for re-election for Governor of Louisiana in 2011. That may be good actually to have eight years of good government in the Pelican State. Four years to set up systems and another four to implement the new systems and protect them from repeal and/or misuse.

I will still write on Jindal as well as the 2012 election. I will also write about the Saints, Christian apologetics and other interesting topics.

I’ll start on the global warming email controversy. I do not in ANY way condone the hacking of emails – it’s illegal and immoral. But assuming the emails are accurate, it tends to support a great belief in global warming that is almost religious in fervor. The entire environmental movement has that sort of propagandization, especially among children. I recently heard on a children’s channel teens actually pledging allegiance to the Earth! I’ll NEVER do that. I intend to pledge allegiance to the Flag, the Constitution, and the Republic on which it stands!

I submit that much of the global warming/climate change pressure is to bring about world government. If the global warming threat is legitimate, it almost begs for some sort of cooperation among nations with binding enforcement mechanisms. We already have the International Criminal Court and the WTO. The EU is an elitist regional government with little imput from the people it purports to serve. It should not be US policy to encourage its growth.

Evangelical Christians like me are (or should be) concerned about world government. The Bible speaks clearly to world economic control by the beast through a symbol described as 666:

“And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast or the number of his name.” Revelation 13:16-17 (KJV).

Not all my readers believe the Bible, although I exhort them who do not to soberly consider the claims of Christ. However, I will not support actions to speed the day when there will be world economic control.

I look forward to comments and more readers. Let there be free-wheeling debate!
